Bullialdus

Observed by John Coates, Burnley.
1996 April 27 22h 30m - 23h 00m UT
75 mm refractor x95
Seeing: AII-III Transparency: passing cloud

Notes: A magnificent formation, very striking even in a small instrument. The top of the central mountain catching the morning sunlight shown here in this sunrise sketch. Obvious inner west wall terracing. I have read that this formation resembles a "mini Copernicus"!
